Heroes Work Here

In March of 2012, The Walt Disney Company announced Heroes Work Here, a company-wide initiative to hire, train and support returning veterans. The program reflects the long history of respect and appreciation Disney has for the U.S. Armed Services. We recognize the commitment and dedication it takes to serve your country and value the leadership skills and sense of purpose the military has instilled in you. We encourage you to explore open opportunities and learn about veterans who have transitioned from the military into successful civilian careers at Disney.

While the missions of the U.S. Army and The Walt Disney Company are different, cast member Dan, manager of supplier diversity, has found striking similarities in their values and culture. For Dan, these include teamwork, a “can do” mindset and leaders who dig in and pursue common goals alongside their teams.

The desire to serve her country and make people smile gives Teresa purpose in life. It’s something she learned from her dad, a Walt Disney World Cast Member for more than 50 years, and a value she wants to pass down to her children.

Switching careers after 21-years in the military can be scary, but with the right support, it can also be the start of an incredible journey. Ariel, a Strategic Sourcing Specialist at Disneyland Resort, found that joining Disney was made easier thanks to special programs designed to help veterans transition into civilian life.
