The Halloween Magic You Didn’t See: Disney’s Season of Giving

Disney loves to celebrate Halloween. And with the season of giving approaching, the company wanted to highlight some of the special ways it celebrated the holiday while spreading happiness to children around the world. From a spook-tacular wish granted with Make-A-Wish to ‘reverse trick-or-treating’ at pediatric hospitals to Disney VoluntEARS bringing magic to underserved children in Tokyo, and more — Halloween at Disney Parks is all about giving happiness.

A “Hallo-Wish” Come True

4-year-old Haze had his frightfully fun wish come true  with the help of Make-A-Wish America. The Halloween-loving wish kid got to visit Disneyland in all its fall glory, riding Haunted Mansion Holiday and meeting Jack Skellington, Sally and Zero from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Haze also decorated edible rocks for a spooky confectionary at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, making for a marvelous time! Making wishes and dreams come true is at the core of everything we do at Disney. The company has worked alongside the team at Make-A-Wish for nearly 45 years to grant more than 155,000 Disney wishes together.

Reverse Trick-or-Treating at Children’s Hospitals

In a twist on tradition, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse brought Halloween happiness to hospitals with reverse trick-or-treating thanks to the teams at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

Disney VoluntEARS and Disney Ambassadors helped distribute toys, books and of course — costumes based on each child’s favorite stories. This magical delivery wouldn’t have been possible without Disney guests and fans across the country. Earlier this year, Disney kicked off an initiative to donate a Halloween costume to Starlight Children’s Foundation for each one purchased on DisneyStore.com. These purchases unlocked the maximum donation from Disney of 20,000 Halloween costumes to Starlight, which were then distributed to children’s hospitals across the country, including at these events in Florida and California. Disney has worked with Starlight Children’s Foundation for over 20 years to bring happiness to hospitals throughout the United States, as well as deliveries of themed hospital wear, care packages, and more.

Halloween Event Fun with Tokyo Disney VoluntEARS

In Tokyo, Disney VoluntEARS gathered for a memorable costume party at a children’s home that houses and cares for children in need. The Disney VoluntEARS came dressed in their festive costumes and assisted with games and activities, creating a joyful experience for all the excited attendees.

Disney VoluntEARS Make the Anaheim Fall Festival Magical

This past weekend, Disney VoluntEARS from across Southern California came together to support the Anaheim Fall Festival. Assisting with carnival-style games, a scavenger hunt, and more, they helped make the festival a huge success for all the kids and families who attended. Disney Ambassadors of Disneyland Resort Jada Young and Raul Aquino Rojas even made special appearances, adding an extra touch of magic to the celebration!

A Huge Surprise at Aulani Wish Week

Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, with their Make-A-Wish Hawaii ‘ohana, shared aloha with wish kids from around the country. And this year, there was a fantastic surprise awaiting the families — a donation of costumes and accessories from The Disney Store to make the Trick-or-Treat dance party even more spooktacular. After snorkeling adventures, a traditional lū‘au, and meeting very special characters, 22 kids and their families gathered on Hālāwai Lawn for the magical conclusion of their stay.
