LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (July 5, 2024) – Miami Dolphins star Jaylen Waddle teamed up with Mickey Mouse to surprise a youth basketball team called South Florida Elite at Walt Disney World Resort on Friday, July 5, 2024. Waddle shared words of encouragement and motivation with the team of 8th graders competing in the AAU Boys Basketball World Championships at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Waddle and Mickey Mouse also played catch in front of the iconic ESPN Wide World of Sports globe adding his name to a long list of superstar athletes who have visited and competed at the Disney sports complex.
After meeting Waddle, South Florida Elite won their next game in the AAU World Championships, beating another team from Florida, 66-33. South Florida Elite finished 3-0 in group play and advanced to the elimination bracket. They will play again on Saturday afternoon needing three more wins to advance to the 14U/8th Grade D1 World Championship game on Sunday, July 7.
Following the surprise meeting, Waddle spent the day exploring the theme parks with his family experiencing some of Walt Disney World’s signature attractions including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.
