Chile, Bolivia and Panama international soccer teams practicing at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex prior to their final Copa America Group Stage Matches; Brazil national team also recently trained at Disney prior to its Copa America matches
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (June XX, 2024) – Chile, Bolivia and Panama national soccer teams are hoping a little Disney magic can help boost them to soccer glory in Copa America. The three teams are scheduled to train at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort this week in preparation for their final matches in the group stage of the tournament.
“We’re honored to host these talented athletes from Copa America as we continue to welcome international teams to our world-class facilities at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex,” said Vice President of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Adam Ball. “Copa America teams choosing to train here speaks to the excellent level of our facilities and our unmatched guest services that make every experience at our sports complex memorable for professional, amateur and youth athletes from around the world.”
The two-time Copa America champion Chilean national team, nicknamed La Roja, started practicing at Disney on June 26 and will face Canada at Inter&Co Stadium in nearby Orlando on June 29. La Roja enters the match in control of their Copa America fate. If Chile wins, it will finish second in Group A and advance to the quarterfinals. A loss or a tie would mean a third-place finish in the group and an early exit from the tournament.
Bolivia, the 1963 Copa America champion, faces Panama in its Group C finale on July 1. Both teams started training at Disney on June 28.
The three international teams join Brazil, which also trained at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex recently in preparation for its Copa America matches. The teams are undoubtedly drawn to the Disney sports complex because of its world-class facilities, its legendary guest service and the opportunity to stay relaxed and have fun in between training sessions by visiting the popular Disney theme parks.
The presence of these renowned international teams builds on ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex’s long history of hosting professional soccer teams. Over the years, the sports complex has had Major League Soccer clubs and European squads, plus some of the biggest stars in the game on its soccer fields.
Additionally, the sports complex is home to several big-league youth soccer events and programs, such as the Disney Soccer Tournaments and Showcases for girls and boys, the US Youth Soccer National Championships and the IdeaSport Soccer Academy.
