Community Benefits

As part of the project’s development agreement with the City, Disney has committed to making significant cash contributions to address various issues in Anaheim, enabling the City to jumpstart key initiatives.

$1.9 Billion Investment in New Experiences

According to experts from California State University, Fullerton, Disney’s investment of a minimum of $1.9 billion in new theme park and lodging could mean up to $30 million in new annual revenues to the City to fund services such as fire, police and transportation improvements. Disney will pay another $5 million to the City’s general fund if Disney’s total investment at the 10-year mark is not at least $600 million more than the committed $1.9 billion investment.

$30 Million to Affordable Housing

Disney will contribute $15 million for affordable housing by June 2025, and the remaining $15 million will be contributed no later than June 2029. This $30 million commitment represents the largest investment in affordable housing for a non-residential project in the City’s history. The City’s new Public Housing Trust will use the $30 million to jumpstart affordable housing projects in Anaheim in the near future, enabling the City to leverage the $30 million with matching funds from state and federal grants.

$8 Million to Park Improvements

Disney’s contribution of $8 million, paid by June 2025, will support park improvements, amenities and potentially new parks throughout Anaheim. This could fund a 3-acre park with a playground, sports courts, walking trails, sitting areas or:
– 64 pickleball courts
– 40 basketball courts
– 30 fitness stations with exercise equipment
– 20 playgrounds
– 10 skateparks
– 6 dog parks

$85 Million to Improve Safety and Traffic Flow

Disney will pay $40 million for the assessed value of three selected street abandonments including Magic Way, Hotel Way and the stub of Clementine Street south of Katella Avenue leading into Disney’s Toy Story parking lot. This payment will also compensate the City for the removal of the previously proposed future extensions of Clementine Street and Gene Autry Way through the existing Toy Story parking lot. Disney will also contribute $45 million for transportation improvements.

Continue Disney’s Mentorship Programs

Disney’s jobs and career development programs have reached approximately 10,000 Anaheim residents annually and 400,000 residents could benefit over the life of the agreement. The program today includes providing students in the Anaheim Union High School District with career development skills and allocating grants to local nonprofits to help Anaheim residents.

Create Thousands of New Jobs

According to CSUF experts, Disney’s investment of $1.9 billion of new theme park and lodging could mean up to 4,584 new jobs during operations and 8,960 new construction jobs during development.

Operations Jobs

At Disneyland Resort, we have established starting rates that range from $20.42 to $25.00, with many skilled roles exceeding a starting rate of $26 an hour along with childcare assistance, and robust, affordable healthcare for eligible cast members starting as low as $8 per week for individuals in California. In addition, Disney Aspire is our educational investment program that provides help with college tuition for eligible hourly employees.

Construction Jobs

A project labor agreement with the building trades unions focused on a new eastside parking structure and multimodal transit center would ensure that our largest infrastructure and parking component will be built with 100% union labor. Building trades unions would implement apprenticeship programs and employ best efforts to focus on hiring Anaheim residents and veterans.
