Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure Park  Fact Sheet 

ANAHEIM, Calif. – As part of fall favorite celebrations at Disneyland Resort, Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure Park commemorates everlasting love and familial bonds with culturally rich experiences inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.  

The immersive celebration features characters and music from Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award®-winning film “Coco,” including photo opportunities with the hand-carved little Miguel, live entertainment with storytelling, music, crafts, flavorful dining and colorful décor from Aug. 23 through Nov. 2, 2024. Guests can also discover a new collection of “Coco” merchandise including apparel, accessories, home and more. 

Delectable Mexican food 

Paradise Garden Grill is serving a limited-time menu that invites families to enjoy a meal together that is inspired by Mexican cuisine. Menu highlights include:  

  • Al pastor tacos: pineapple-achiote-marinated pork with avocado spread and tomatillo salsa, served with Spanish rice and refried beans, topped with queso fresco 
  • Huarache (plant-based): with soy-based chorizo beans and seasoned steak tips, topped with lettuce, cheese, avocado crema and tomatillo salsa, served with Spanish rice and refried beans topped with nopales pico de gallo 
  • Chile verde chicken flautas: topped with avocado spread, shredded lettuce, crema, queso fresco, tomatillo salsa and pickled onions, served with Spanish rice and refried beans topped with nopales pico de gallo 
  • Vanilla layer cake: layers of vanilla cake filled with a cinnamon mousse and sweet cream cheese frosting 

Heartwarming entertainment featuring favorite ‘Coco’ songs 

Beginning Aug. 30, 2024, “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!” show features cherished songs from the Pixar film such as “Remember Me” and “The World Es Mi Familia,” as well as the classic Mexican folk song, “La Llorona.” Through song and dance, the travelling troupe of storytellers bring to life the everlasting bonds of family in this new heartwarming celebration.  

At the Paradise Garden Bandstand, guests of all ages are invited to sing and dance along to live Mariachi music and traditional songs that touch the hearts of all.  

Family crafts and photo opportunities 

  • Overflowing with images, colors and symbols, the Árbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) provides a vibrant backdrop for photos. Its branches sprout flowers, animals and evocative calacas (skeletons) interconnected by the theme of family.  
  • At the Memory Wall, guests can add remembrance notes to honor their loved ones
  • Plaza de la Familia visitors may design their own paper mask of Pepita or Dante from “Coco”, inspired by alebrijes. (Traditional alebrijes are small figurines representing fantastical creatures with a mix of physical characteristics from many different animals.)
  • After each performance of “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!”, guests may pose for photos and make new memories with Miguel, when he and his performer appear at a beautiful artistic mural entitled “Recuérdame” (“Remember Me”), the iconic song from the film. 
  • Miguel’s Memory Box art piece is an homage to Miguel’s beloved family members and the friends he meets on his travels in the Land of the Dead.  

Tributes to Día de los Muertos across Disneyland Resort 

  • Guests cruising through Cars Land will find that Ramone, one of the local “car-acters,” pays tribute to Día de los Muertos at his detailing shop, Ramone’s House of Body Art, with a traditional ofrenda display honoring Doc Hudson. 
  • Disneyland Park offers a vibrant tribute inspired by a traditional Día de los Muertos display at Zocalo Park in Frontierland. The magnificent installation features marigolds and banners of papel picado, along with two traditional ofrendas, sugar skulls known as calaveras and an iconic figure of La Catrina. The Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante offers delicious Mexican cuisine for lunch and dinner year-round.
