Marvel Keeps The Adrenaline Going with New Action Sports Products

– Marvel Super Heroes Hit New Extremes with Skateboards, Headphones, and Scooters –

Glendale, Calif. (July 27, 2015) – Coming off Marvel’s appearance in this month’s ESPN The Magazine with a custom edition insert entitled The Body Issue: Super Heroes Edition and involvement at the ESPY’s Escape Athlete Lounge, Marvel brand’s presence in the sports category is further solidifying as Disney Consumer Products (DCP) injects Super Hero action into sporting goods and accessories. The push also follows a dominating presence at X Games 2015 where the Next X Park – renamed the Marvel Next X Park – offered fans a place to master their own tricks and learn from the pros. Leading licensees Santa Cruz Skateboards, Madd Gear Scooters, and SMS Headphones are paving the way for an adrenaline-filled Marvel-inspired lineup at retail this year.

Santa Cruz Skateboards celebrates the 30th anniversary of its iconic Jim Phillips’ Screaming Hand design, with a full line of Marvel character branded decks, completes, cruzers and T-Shirts. The epic line featuring designs inspired by some of Marvel’s coolest heroes including Spider-Man, Venom, Thor, and Wolverine is available at stores now.

At X Games 2015 Madd Gear Scooters unveiled its Pro Scooter Collaboration with Marvel, hitting stores this September. The line features Madd Gear’s popular scooters decked out with imagery featuring Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, and more.

SMS Audio, the premier audio headphone brand created by 50 Cent, released three upcoming designs for their new line of Marvel-inspired headphones at X Games. The stylish, high-quality headphones featuring members of the Avengers team including Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain American will be available at retail in August.

“Marvel’s Super Heroes are extreme athletes in their own right – probably the most extreme anyone could ever imagine. Bringing this sensibility to the sports category is a natural fit for the brand and we’re excited to keep building on this strategy and giving fans new ways to experience the Marvel Universe,” said Paul Gitter, senior vice president, licensing, Marvel at Disney Consumer Products.
