Revelmode, a media brand focused on content, community, and charity, and anchored by TIME 100’s Felix Kjellberg aka PewDiePie—the #1 most-subscribed YouTuber in the world, today announced its further expansion into games through a multi-title development deal with newly created studio DoubleMoose, and the launch of PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator, available now on iOS and Android, from Outerminds. Revelmode is a Maker Studios and Kjellberg venture.
As one of the three Revelmode pillars, game development continues to be a core focus for the brand’s original content strategy—connecting the community with creators. Legend of the Brofist, Kjellberg’s first foray into gaming, which featured some of the Revelmode squad, debuted at #1 in the app store and stayed there for more than 3 weeks last year.
Revelmode further expands its slate tapping award-winning game designer Armin Ibrisagic for a development deal run through DoubleMoose studio. Ibrisagic may be best known for his work on Goat Simulator with Coffee Stain Studios, which has sold millions of copies worldwide. Through its relationship with Revelmode, DoubleMoose will develop multiple titles for PC, iOS and Android, with creative input from Kjellberg.
“Comedy is huge in entertainment but it still feels in its infancy in the games industry—Felix and I would like to work on changing that,” said Ibrisagic. “It’s great fun to be designing some crazy stuff with Felix and the whole Revelmode squad!”
Also part of the Revelmode game slate, PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator launched today on iOS and Android in the App Store, Google Play Store, and Amazon. The game, published by Outerminds, the Montreal-based studio behind Legend of the Brofist, features the Revelmode squad. Tuber Simulator allows players to experience life as an aspiring YouTube star and become the biggest, baddest YouTuber ever – kicking PewDiePie off his throne.
“It’s all HAPPENING for Revelmode—with more to come,” said Kjellberg. “Working with Armin is a match made in heaven. His vision and sense of humor fits Revelmode perfectly. We’re proud and excited to have him on board and can’t wait to share what we’ll create together! ALSO, I’m so excited Tuber Simulator is here! Guiz de Pessemier and the Outerminds team are so amazing to work with—check out this fresh pup today!”
Since launch in January 2016, Revelmode has added Cryaotic and PJ Liguori aka KickthePJ to its creator squad, further collaborating with creators who fit the Revelmode voice. Revelmode is now home to PewDiePie, CinnamonToastKen, Cryaotic, CutiePieMarzia, Dodger, EmmaBlackery, JackSepticEye, Jelly, KickthePJ, Kwebbelkop, and Markiplier—with more additions coming soon.
Revelmode recently participated in a charity drive—Revel4Good, a multi-installment live stream, which drove over 100,000 Humble Bundle purchases with a portion of the proceeds donated to a cause close to the hearts of the squad: mental illness. Millions of people suffer from some form of mental illness each year, quietly struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and more. Crisis Text Line, who provides free, 24/7 support for people in crisis via text, received a portion of the charitable contributions generated by the bundle.
The majority of the squad also recently appeared at PAX West 2016, filming original shows (more information coming soon!), meeting fans, and participating in programming across the conference.
Revelmode continues to be powered by Maker Studios, leveraging its global scale to create commercial and creative value for the brand.
