Disney Store Helps Kick Off ‘My Rogue Story’ Video Contest for Kids with Release of a Free Starter Pack and Stop-Motion ‘How To’ Video

Retailer Rolls Out ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Merchandise with Free In-Store Star Wars-Themed Events All Weekend

Pasadena, Calif. – Sept. 30, 2016 – Disney Store is celebrating the arrival of the new “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” collection and the opening of the nationwide My Rogue Story user generated content (UGC) contest with free materials and an online video tutorial to encourage fans to create their own “Rogue Stories” (no purchase necessary to enter).

This weekend, fans can pick up a complimentary “My Rogue Story Video Starter Pack,” featuring a unique backdrop and die-cut characters (while supplies last), to create their own original 2-minute videos inspired by the upcoming “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” film. The exclusive starter packs are available at Disney Store locations. Information on the My Rogue Story contest, which runs through Oct. 21 for ages 8-12, can be found at Disney.com/MyRogueStory.

To help kids with their stories, Disney Store has released a free online video tutorial offering tips and tricks for creating a fun entry, including step-by-step instructions for a stop-motion animation adventure complete with characters, vehicles and special effects.

To further celebrate the retail set date of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” toys, collectibles, apparel and more, all North American Disney Store locations opened for business today with Star Wars-themed opening ceremonies, offering a galactic twist on the traditional “Unlocking Imagination” ritual. Disney Store locations (excluding Outlets) will also host in-store events on Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., as well as on Oct. 2 at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. during which Guests can join the Rebel Alliance to help obtain the plans for the Galactic Empire’s weapon, the Death Star.
