Disney Store Celebrates Grand Opening of Remodeled Store at Fayette Mall in Lexington, KY

First 500 Guests Will Receive Free Gift; Special Meet and Greet With Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse

PASADENA, Calif., April 17, 2015 — On Saturday, April 18, Disney Store will celebrate the grand opening of its remodeled store at Fayette Mall in Lexington, KY. One of The Walt Disney Company’s premier retail destinations, Disney Store offers guests a magical and immersive shopping experience through its unique store design, storytelling elements and one-of-a-kind team of Cast Members.

Remodeled to include unique elements including a blue Pixie Dust Trail, Magical Trees, Disney Store Theater and Storytelling Neighborhoods featuring Disney, Marvel and Star Wars product statements, the Store also includes design elements exclusive to Lexington. As guests enter the Store and look above, they will see a customized skyline incorporating local landmarks — including the historic Old Fayette County Courthouse and Mary Todd Lincoln house — in addition to classic Disney features and magical storytelling moments.

“Disney Store brings a distinctly Disney experience to hometowns throughout the U.S. with a focus on ‘creating magical moments for guests of all ages,’ and our Cast Members are looking forward to bringing this magic to life in Lexington for all to enjoy,” said Jonathan Storey, vice president, Disney Store North America. “At Disney Store, you can shop an exclusive assortment of product in an immersive environment that is grounded in the rich history of Disney’s storytelling.”

During the grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 18, one lucky guest will be invited to “unlock imagination” and officially open the Fayette Mall Disney Store. This tradition will continue after grand opening day, as the Store will “unlock imagination” every morning, giving guests an opportunity to participate in a special and unforgettable Disney Store experience.

This year, the grand opening ceremony will feature a festive new song, special appearances and a little bit of Pixie Dust to officially open the Store to guests. Additionally, the first 500 guests to attend the grand opening celebration will receive a free gift. From noon to 4 p.m., a meet-and-greet with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will take place in Dillard’s Court, with an opportunity for guests to take photos with the characters*.

In anticipation of the upcoming theatrical release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015, the Fayette Mall Disney Store will host a special in-store activity on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2015. Guests are invited to visit their local store dressed as their favorite Super Hero and assemble for a Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron mission.
