We Inspire a World of Hope

At Walt Disney World Resort, we believe social responsibility is a long-term investment that serves to strengthen our company, our employees, and our communities.

We aim to bring the same joy, inspiration and magic of our theme parks and resorts to the lives of children and families across our Florida community through experiences that encourage, nurture and empower them to create a brighter tomorrow.

Over the last 18 months, specially themed events have happened at our domestic sites across the country, connecting Walt Disney World Cast Members with communities near and far, while also inviting other Disney employees and fans from all over to join us in celebrating this milestone anniversary, together.

We invite you to learn about Walt Disney World’s legacy of community investment and see how we’re continuing to bring the magic long after our anniversary celebration to Florida and beyond!

Meeting Community Needs

Since 1971, Disney has provided hundreds of millions of dollars to nonprofit organizations that address basic community needs and are valued by Cast Members who also live, attend school, raise families and thrive in the place we call home.

With a commitment to helping Florida grow, flourish and be the best it can be, we aim to bring comfort, optimism and joy to our communities to create stories of hope, especially for children.

We work together with community leaders and innovators to find solutions to important matters throughout our region and empower all individuals to create a brighter tomorrow.

Our Economic Ecosystem

Walt Disney World Resort has been an economic engine for Florida for more than 50 years. As the largest single-site employer in the country with more than 75,000 cast members, it serves as a catalyst for tourism, recreation and diversifies the region’s economy.

As the largest single taxpayer in Central Florida, Walt Disney World Resort contributed $1.146 billion in total state and local taxes paid and collected for 2022.

The Walt Disney Company continues to broaden its economic presence in the state through additional lines of business. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products is the global hub that brings Disney’s stories, characters, and franchises to life through theme parks and resorts, cruise and vacation experiences, and consumer products—everything from toys to apparel, and books to video games.

Disney Wish Granting

The Walt Disney Company has a long legacy of supporting children in need, dating back to the opening of Disneyland Park in 1955.

Every year, we proudly fulfill thousands of wishes at Walt Disney World, providing kids and their families with magical, memorable Disney experiences at a time when it’s needed most. As of May 1, 2023, more than 150,000 Disney-inspired wishes have been granted since 1980 through Make-A-Wish.

Community Investment

With a commitment to helping Florida grow, flourish and be the best it can be, Walt Disney World Resort donates both cash and product to nonprofits that are meeting the basic needs of our neighbors. We are also invested in working together with our community to solve complex issues such as affordable housing. By earmarking nearly 80 acres of our land for a new attainable housing project, we are lending a hand to make a real and meaningful impact for families.
