NBA G League Wraps Up at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

After a month of exciting game play at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the NBA G League wrapped up with a win by the Lakeland Magic on Thursday evening. The local team defeated the Delaware Blue Coats by a score of 97 to 78 in the NBA G League Finals, marking Lakeland’s first championship in franchise history.

Jeremy Lin, point guard for the Santa Cruz Warriors, had a great run during the G League, helping to lead his team to the semifinals. “Being here at Walt Disney World is just incredible. You couldn’t ask for better facilities, from ESPN Wide World of Sports to the hotel and our G League campus,” Lin said.

“After a tough year, I’m not taking anything for granted, especially the opportunity to play basketball,” he added, noting the effort by so many to make the G League season successful. “It’s such a huge operation and full team effort, including medical, transportation, catering, deliveries, and so many more.”

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has played host to several major sporting events in the past year, ushering in the return of professional sports during challenging times. The MLS is Back Tournament and the 2020 NBA season, Playoffs, and Finals, and now the G League, took place at the sports complex’s state-of-the-art facilities.

ESPN Wide World of Sports also affords the magic of Walt Disney World. As Jeremy Lin noted, being in Central Florida brought back some of his favorite Walt Disney World memories. “I remember riding Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom four or five times in a row, right before the Park closed, when I was a kid,” Lin remembered fondly. “And the Water Parks were always my favorite. I always wanted to go!”

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is thrilled to have partnered again with the NBA for a successful NBA G League season!
