Four WNBA teams, the Lynx, Indiana Fever, Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury, converged on ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort to compete in the first WNBA Preseason Tournament, May 9-11, 2014.
The action tipped off on Friday, May 9, with the Chicago Sky defeating the Indiana Fever, 73-66, before the reigning WNBA Champions, Minnesota Lynx bested the Phoenix Mercury, 76-64.
The WNBA Preseason Tournament resumed Sunday, May 11, with the Indiana Fever overwhelming the Phoenix Mercury in the Consolation Game, 75-60. In the Championship matchup, the Minnesota Lynx continued their winning ways from last season to take the inaugural WNBA Preseason Tournament trophy with a 76-69 victory over the Chicago Sky.
This tournament was held in conjunction with the AAU Spring Fling girls basketball tournament, with professional players providing insight and training tips to the next generation of basketball talent through moderated player panels and discussions held on Saturday. WNBA players also participated in autograph sessions and the AAU Awards Ceremony.
